Central Luzon State University was selected as one of the Top 10 higher education institutions (HEIs) that participated in the Philippines-UK Transnational Education (TNE) Forum held last November 21-26 in London, United Kingdom.

“This activity provides avenue for CLSU to explore and find potential UK Higher Education Institution (HEI) partners in the offering of our flagship courses particularly our program in Agriculture,” said Dr. Tereso Abella, university president, who participated in the forum along with other heads of HEI’s from the country.

The TNE forum is one of the program activities of the collaborative project between the British Council and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to help Philippine HEIs establish international alliance with UK HEIs through the TNE partnership.

During the forum, Dr. Abella presented the institutional profile of CLSU including its vision and mission, faculty and colleges, flagship programs, and the different research and development centers within the community. He emphasized the proposed project of CLSU in the Niche Program – the graduate course Master in Precision Agriculture – for priority area in technology and food security.

The Bicol University and University of the Philippines, Los Baños served as collaborating partners of CLSU in developing the said program prior to implementation by year 2018. The University of Swansea and University of Reading, on the other hand, are the identified UK partners of CLSU.

The Joint Development of Niche Program is a two-year experimental activity in line with the K to 12 transition of CHED envisioned to develop programs at the graduate level that are aligned to the identified priority courses of the respective institution.
