CLSU Submits 6 Programs for AACCUP Evaluation

In its relentless pursuit of quality and excellence in higher education, CLSU recently subjected 6 curricular programs to evaluation / accreditation of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities (AACCUP).

Two programs, BS in Agriculture and BS Civil Engineering, were subjected to Level 4 Phase 2 and Level 3 Phase 2 evaluation, respectively.

On the other hand, four programs (3 undergraduate - BS Hotel and Restaurant Management, AB Psychology, and BS Accounting Technology, and 1 doctoral program - PhD in Aquaculture); underwent preliminary survey to evaluate their readiness for a survey visit.

The preliminary survey was held last May 4-8 while the accreditation for Level 4 and Level 3 (Phase 2) was done last May 7 - 8. OIC President Raul D. Divina and Vice President for Academic Affairs Tereso A. Abella, delivered their respective messages during the opening and closing programs.

According to Dr. Mario Suba, university accreditation coordinator, the accreditation team was headed by AACCUP Executive Director Dr. Manuel T. Corpuz, who was the overall coordinator and consultant for both surveys.

Dr. Helen F. Delos Santos of the Philippine Normal University was the team leader for the preliminary survey with Dr. Isabelita Bacud of University Rizal System - Morong Campus, as member.

The team leader for the BS Agriculture program was Dr. Lydia P. Libunao of Don Mariano Marcos State University, Bacnotan, La Union. Serving as members were Dr. Janet B. Quilang of Isabela State University - Cabagan Campus, and Dr. Corpuz.

For the BS in Civil Engineering program, the team leader was Prof. Nestor C. Competente of the Rizal Technological University, with Prof. Rebecca B. Napiere of Visayas State University, and Dr. Corpuz as members.

As of December 2015, a total of 41 graduate and undergraduate programs of CLSU were accredited by the ACCUP.

Of this total, 7 undergraduate programs are Qualified for Level IV and three others are Level IV Re-Accredited; while 16 graduate programs (5 PhD and 11 MS) are Level III Re-Accredited. The rest are Level I-Accredited and one program is Level II-Re-accredited.

Two graduates of the CLSU College of Fisheries (CLSU-CF) made it to the Top 10 in the Licensure Exam for Fisheries Technologists administered by the Professional Regulation Commission and the Board of Fisheries in October 2017.
