The 4th National Scholars' Conference conducted by the DOST-Science Education Institute-ASTHRDP-NSC which was held last May 7 - 8 in Manila was attended by representative faculty members, sta? and graduate students of CLSU.

According to Dr. Elaida Fiegalan, graduate program coordinator, the conference enlightened the students about the government's continued support of S&T scholars and their aim to increase our country's S&T capabilities. Undersecretary Rowena Cristina Guevarra, emphasized in her speech that in the acronym ASTHRDP (Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program) the scholars' part is the "HR" and that being scholars means they are already members of the country's S&T Team.

During the parallel sessions, four alumni of CLSU (graduate program, 2014) whose study grants were funded by the DOST-SEI-ASTHRDP-NSC successfully presented their research outputs, namely: Joel A. Cantoneros, George A.Hamora, and Michael T. Ibisate of the College of Agriculture and Jupiter L. Grospe of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Three other CLSU Alumni presentors, Reynaldo L. Ordonio, Laila D. Tomas, Visayas State University and Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology.

Dr. Fiegalan also said that five CLSU graduate students were among the attendees during the convention. Dr. Jose S. Abucay and Dr. Karl Marx Quiazon served as poster judge and session moderator, respectively.

During the dinner socials, each university representative showed-o? their talent in cheering wherein CLSU ranked second to VSU, while UST came in third. The plenary session on the second day encouraged the participants to excel to enable them to serve their country better as what the six balik-scientists who were the resource persons did by sharing their experiences on how they were trained abroad.
