As a symbol of its commitment of providing excellent service to humanity, the Central Luzon State University, through the initiative of Dr. Ruben C. Sevilleja, tapped the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) to undertake the consultancy services for the development of a Quality Management System (QMS) certifiable to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008.

ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System certification enables an organization to demonstrate its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, and to continuously improve its operation. The internationally recognized quality management system standard is the preferred solution for organizations worldwide.

As part of the preparations, CLSU had identified its Quality Management Representative (QMR) and Deputy QMR in the person of Dr. Raul D. Divina who is also the Officer In-Charge of the Office of the University President, and Dr. Angelita V. Seeping, Chief of the Human Resource Development (HRD).

The QMS Core Team tasked to ensure that all the necessary requirements to apply and obtain the said certification was likewise created. Headed by Dr. Cheryl G. Ramos, Chief Planning Officer and Officer In-Charge of the Administrative Services Division, the team will spearhead the drafting of the Quality Manual, Quality Procedures, Operations Manual and other relevant forms.

The QMS Core Team has already completed the Training Course on ISO 9001:2008 QMS Requirements and Documentation held last March 3-5. The outputs of the team on CLSU's Quality Policy and Process Map were presented to and reviewed by the members of the Administrative Council last April 23-24 at Oasis Hotel, Angeles City. A technical guidance session is set on June 8-10. According to Dr. Ramos, the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) has scheduled 10 visits to CLSU over a period of 8 months.

Through ISO 9001:2008 QMS certification, CLSU's public sector efficiency and citizens' satisfaction will be enhanced and the policy for continuous improvement will be institutionalized.
