The Agricultural Science and Technology School (ASTS) unveiled a Commemorative Marker on April 3, 2012, to honor the efforts of Dr. Fortunato A. Battad, CLSU President Emeritus, who was instrumental in the establishment of the school.

In 1996, ASTS began as a school for the rural youth which envisions its learners to be future agricultural technologists or entrepreneurs in their communities. It was established through the efforts of Dr. Battad then CLSU President, by virtue of Board resolution no 57-95 and was approved in August 18, 1995.

The ceremony was led by Prof. Cresenciano V. Merculio, ASTS principal and Dr. Fortunato A. Battad, CLSU president emeritus. Also present during the ceremony were Dr. Soledad M. Roguel, CLSU VPAA; Dr. Rhodora I. Dela Rosa, College of Education Dean; ASTS Faculty, Staff and student; and CLSU officials, faculty and staff.

The Commemorative Marker was unveiled in the occasion of the school’s 13th Commencement Exercises where Dr. Fortunato A. Battad was also the Commencement Speaker.
