CLSU gets Level 2 institutional accreditation

The university has been stamped a Level 2 accreditation as a comprehensive higher education institution by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities (AACCUP).

In a letter addressed to President Ruben C. Sevilleja dated October 12, 2011, Dr. Manuel T. Corpus, AACCUP Executive director said that the AACCUP Board of Trustees “has approved under Resolution No.53, dated September 2011 the Level 2 accreditation status of CLSU”. The date of its validity is August 1, 2011 to July 2016. The university got the accreditation handily, that is, without any conditions from the accreditation team. To recall, CLSU submitted itself to institutional accreditation last July 19-23. It took the university almost two years of thorough and painstaking preparation through its constituents spearheaded by Dr. Mario S. Suba, university accreditation coordinator, before CLSU was evaluated as a higher education institution.. Nine areas or criteria served as a bases of the evaluation, to wit: Area I – Governance and Management, Area II – Teaching, Learning and Evaluation, Area III – Faculty, Area IV – Research, Area V -Extension, Consultancy and Linkages, Area VI – Support to Students, Area VII – Generation, Management and Utilization of Financial Resources, and Area IX – Best Practices. Dr. Ricardo E. Rotoras, president of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges and also of the Mindanao University of Science and Technology, led the team of 10 senior accreditor from various universities, Dr. Corpus, served as consultant.
